Interleague 2016

GLCPA INTERLEAGUE - 2016 FORMAT

See Here for a copy of the revised Interleague rules, amended April 2016

Also, see Here for 2016 Fixtures & Contacts list

In 2016 there will be 11 teams competing at GLCPA Interleague.

The same changes to the 2016 Interleague season have been implemented as in 2015 due to this number of teams.

It had previously been agreed at county level that the GLCPA Interleague season should not start until the National Finals from 2015 are completed. In 2016 these are held 16th/17th April.

With both the large number of teams and the requirement to play no more than once a month (or thereabouts - as being the preferred option), there simply aren’t enough free dates to squeeze in 10 league fixtures into an already crowded pool calendar.

As in 2015, the league has been set up as follows:

The league has been split into 2 equal strength groups - 1 of 5 & 1 of 6 teams, drawn from 3 seeded pots of teams.

These were drawn (at the Interleague sub-committee meeting) as follows:

- The top pot contained the 4 teams that finished 1st-4th in 2015

These were drawn individually, 2 teams placed in each group

- The middle pot contained the 4 teams that finished 5th-8th in 2015

These were also drawn individually and 2 teams placed into each group

- The lowest pot contained the remaining 2 teams from 2015 plus 1 new team

This equates to 2 balanced groups of roughly equal strength in each

The Groups were finalised as follows:

-

Group A

Group B

SLKPA - 2

Battersea B

Battersea A

Waterloo

London City

Frank Smith Terrace

S L K P A

Battersea C

Battersea Boom

SLKPA - 3

- Bye -

London Leopards

-

Every Team in each group will play each other once, with the top 4 teams in each group contesting an end-of-season play-off against their counterpart who finished in the same position in the other group

eg:

Winner Group A v Winner Group B - Play-off to to determine GLCPA Interleage Champions and 2nd place overall

Runner-up Group A v Runner-up Group B - play-off to determine 3rd & 4th place overall

Continue to play-off Groups 3rd & 4th placed teams.

Teams finishing 5th & last in each group miss out on the end of season play-off.

- This will produce overall Interleage final positions of 1st-8th, with final league points for teams who miss the play-offs deciding positions 9th-11th

The end-of-season play-offs will be staged at Spots & Stripes.

League Play-offs

Yarmouth eligibility - player appearance:

Player appearances in the KO Cup will be recorded as simply 1 if they appear on any team sheet throughout the day, or zero if they are absent altogether.

This means each player will have the maximum opportunity to appear in:

- 1 KO Cup

- 5 League matches

- 1 play-off (assuming your team qualifies)

Making a total of up to 7 appearances.

This should make it easier for captains to work out who has played enough matches to be legal for Yarmouth finals

-

KO Cup Format:

The KO Cup format remained unchanged, with 8 teams contesting the finals event proper.

All 11 teams will be entered, with the newly formed team joining the lowest 5 league positioned teams from 2015 in the preliminary round.

At this stage 3 teams will be eliminated and the 3 winners joined the top 5 league positioned teams from 2015 in the finals event.

The KO Cup Draw was made at the captains meeting on the 8th April.
