Welcome to the Waterloo Pool League website
2020 - the year of the face-mask! 2021 - the year of the needle!
Happy New Year to one & all
Happy New Year to one & all

Committee Meeting - 6th October 2020
Response to Covid-19 restrictions.
Membership year - As current ‘Rule of Six’ restrictions apply it is not possible to convene the AGM.
The committee agreed to freeze elections until next feasible annual event, when rotational elections would be held.
Waterloo membership year - Normally set for AGM/start of winter season.
It was agreed that ALL current 2019-20 player registrations be automatically extended to cover any feasible 2020-21 Waterloo Pool League season(s).
2019-20 Winter season - only half of the scheduled fixtures were completed prior to lock-down mid-March.
It was agreed that under current conditions (and with very little chance of any change to the situation - possibly not until next March at best), all un-played team fixtures should be considered cancelled - and that the 2019-20 League in its current format be abandoned.
Although our team fixtures are effectively binned, it was agreed that, (maintaining strict government guidelines), we could attempt to complete the 2019-20 Singles & Scotch Doubles knockout tournaments.
All remaining participants to be contacted about this possibility, and if enough were interested then we would make arrangements to complete them.
Moving Forward
Discussed possible ways to get the members involved in some hybrid 2020-21 season:
All very much subject to the outcome of ongoing government ‘circuit-breaker’ lockdown restrictions!

Moving Forward
Discussed possible ways to get the members involved in some hybrid 2020-21 season:
- Create a 3-man league (Golden Cue format) - 3 frames of 3 (satisfying the Rule of Six).
- Create a round-robin Singles league

Information from the EPA:

Interleague 2020:
At the GLCPA committee meeting held on Sunday 16th August it was decided, in the interests of safety to our members and common sense, that the only sensible decision is the cancellation of the current season, resulting in this season being null and void within GLCPA.
The factors which persuaded the County to reach this conclusion were:
- the lack of information from the government as to when team pool might actually be permitted to resume.
- the lack of remaining (or currently scheduled) Interleague dates to successfully complete the fixtures.
The County are also seeking advice from the EPA on the future of Interleague in 2021 if limitations on competitive team pool persist and the effects it will have on National finals etc.
Also, the County are pushing the EPA for a decision on whether the National Interleague Finals in October 2020 and December 2020 are going ahead. Once the County get a response from this, the information will be passed on to our team captains.
It should be noted that no team or player will lose out on any money paid into the County.
It is envisaged that subscriptions which were valid for 2020 are likely to roll over to 2021.
More on this once everything is confirmed.
Obviously the virus has sent the whole pool fraternity into chaos, but slowly the County are unpicking the damage and attempting to make good.
