Waterloo Masters 2025-2026
Following the success of the Waterloo Masters in previous seasons, this tournament will again be staged towards the end of the 2025-26 season.
With the Waterloo Masters scheduled for Sunday 7th June this year allowing more time at our disposal, we have opted to extend the tournament from the 16-player format as in the last few seasons.
It is proposed that the field will comprise 24 players - the leading player from each of the 16 teams in the league as before, plus the additional 8 highest-placed players in the stats who have not already qualified as their team's leading player.
The players will be split into 3 pots of 8 players as follows:
Pot A - top player from each team in what has been referred to as the Upper Level of the second phase of the league season
Pot B - top player from each team in the Lower Level
Pot C - the 8 additional as players described above - to be referred to as wildcard players
Preliminary round matches will be drawn to involve a player from Pot B against one from Pot C (provisionally race to 3, to be confirmed later).
Players from Pot A would qualify automatically for the last 16 and will each play against a preliminary round winner (same race as prelims).
Tournament will follow a straight knockout format with a predetermined draw to be made on the day (races increase to 4 for semis and 5 for final, TBC).
As before, if the top player of any team is unable to attend, their spot can pass down just once within their team, as long as their second-best player is in the top 40 of the final stats - otherwise, it becomes another wildcard place and passes to the highest player in the league not already qualified.
If we are unable to fill any absentee spots or there are any no-shows on the day, additional byes to the last 16 will be awarded first to Pot B players, then Pot C players if applicable, according to their placing in the final stats.
